Michelle Alexander Speaks At Riverside Church, in Harlem

May 21, 2011 was supposed to be the end of the world, well, it was the end of the world as many of us knew it when they heard Michelle Alexander dissect the criminal "injustice" system in America and its progeny---The New Jim Crow and mass incarceration in the age of Colorblindness.

This event was put on by The Riverside Church Prison Ministry, who have helped kick off, The Campaign To End The New Jim Crow.  Help support work to end mass incarceration and the emergence of the New Jim Crow! Become part of a movement, and refuse to be silent and inactive!

<She clearly has much experience and I am sure has done a great deal of research which grants credibility to an extent. Although I agree with her on many points and I do enjoy the perspective she takes on the subject, covering historical events until the present in a statistical and factual manner. I feel she comes very pushy towards a resolution but never offers one. Many have tried to make this argument before but have failed from through bias points, but non the less it is something existing (caste system). One of my favorite points in the video concerns the amount in percentage that your risk of arrest rises in the "hood" as oppose to any where else. which brings me to my last statement "hood" should be used continually in rally speeches. I am 19, born and raised in Washington Heights now living in Pennsylvania and these video segments were moving and full of incite. Thanks for making them available Mr. Hayden!>
