We Endorse John C. Liu for Mayor of the City of New York

We at Still Here Harlem Productions/All Things Harlem, support John C. Liu for Mayor of the City of New York. is a community based website that is dedicated to providing a voice for the Harlem community and all communities of poor people of color.

After observing and interacting with John Liu for the last five (5) years we are totally impressed with his commitment to resolving the issues critical to fairness and justice in communities of poor people of color.  He has been at countless events over these past few years fighting for justice for victims of racial profiling by the NYPD.  As a City Councilman and City Comptroller he has made the connections between the money that has been wasted upholding policies of racial profiling rather than building up caring communities. Chief among these issues has been the policy and practice of Stop & Frisk.  John C. Liu’s position on this critical issue has been and remains “Don’t mend it, End it!”  He is still the only candidate to take this clear and brave position of completely abolishing the policy.  The other Democratic candidates for Mayor only promise to reform or tweak the policy of stop and frisk without getting rid of it.

John C. Liu has been also been at every tragic event that has resulted from the Racial Profiling of NYPD.  He has stood with families of victims of police brutality like Ramarley Graham and Omar Edwards and marched with them as they pursued justice.

John C. Liu is a straight shooter and feared by the status quo. There has been a calculated attack on his campaign and his character going on for over a year preceding this election. More recently there has been a noticeable media blackout on his campaign.  The status quo fears what John C. Liu represents.  Liu is a hardworking immigrant from Taiwan who moved here when he was just 5.  He attended New York City public schools and worked hard to get where he is today.  He is not part of the establishment and boldly fights for real working and middle class New Yorkers.  He has the intelligence, commitment and bravery to be a powerful force in the Mayor’s office like we have never seen before.

This is his time.  This is our time.  John C. Liu has been the kind of political representative we need and want. He has supported us, now we must support him.
